Killola Get The Friction On

the ultimate proof of my nerd-like ways

2008-01-13 at 6:11 p.m.

nothing exciting happens in my life, so i've decided to make something exciting out of nothing.

okay maybe it's not exciting but it's something for me to do while i'm unemployed and seriously bored at home. basically what i'll be doing when i should be cleaning.

i've made a music review blog, which can be found at Rip Off Artist [dot] blogspot [dot] com

this doesn't mean i'm abandoning my personal blog here, by no means. it just means that i don't have to stick legitimate posts about music in between posts about how my life sucks and "ooh I'm so emo" rants. If you want to go, go have a look, my first and only review so far is of Silkworm's Libertine.

Also, I've actually discovered my inner hipster. not just because i've spent all day listening to Silkworm, but the fact that I've pretty much spent the past few days listening to post-rock music, mostly Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and reading the entire Achewood archives. Honestly, if you're going to read webcomics, then this is the one to read, along probably Questionable Content, Married To The Sea, and A Softer World.

But Achewood is the ultimate hipster/indie kid comic, and for the first time I've actually sat down and read it. Before I've seen the odd strip and it's been weird or I just haven't got the joke, but reading from the beginning of the archive, right to the end has made it a lot easier to understand the type of humour used, and reading an entire story arc rather than just one strip in the middle of an arc.

I thought I didn't get it, but really I just didn't care to get it. Now I'm definitely into it, and will be keeping up with the updates.
